Bernard Buffet

Bernard Buffet is an abstract expressive painter,
born in Paris in 1928 and died in 1999 in Tourtour (Var),
comprising characters as well as figures, animals, landscapes, still lifes and flowers. Aquarelliste, he is also a theater painter and illustrator. Bernard Buffet also studied at the Fine Arts as Combas, Erro.

This artist has succeeded in bringing something new to the pictorial world.
Indeed, one feels at home his own writing, with a lively and sure gesture, a finesse of the artist's own design.
In these compositions there is a balance and harmony not found elsewhere.
The 50's at Buffet represents a miserabilistic era with dark colors and subjects close to the theme of death, anguish.
Throughout his life, Buffet was very attracted to the circus world by seeking to represent clown heads, but also painted landscapes such as a fishing port, a vision of the city of New York.
