Description

Cette oeuvre sur papier a été réalisée par Sam Francis, lors d'un voyage à Tokyo. L'artiste était très attiré par le Japon et va d'ailleurs s'y installer pour une année en 1973. On retrouve sur ce papier les couleurs vives et emblématiques de l'artiste. Comme à son habitude, il travaille sur un fond blanc et utilise la technique du Dripping. Les tâches soumises au hasard, surgissent spontanément et représentent alors son énergie créatrice et son langage pictural.

Sam Francis

Sam Lewis Francis said Sam Francis is an American painter, known for his non-figurative work.  Borned in 1923 in San Mateo (California), the artist has created a new color aesthetic and a new design canvas.

Sam Francis was not primarily intended to become a painter, following studies in medicine and psychology.

In 1944, after joining the Army as an aviator, he was victim of a plane crash, crashing in the desert.During his two years where he stayed at the hospital, he began to start paintThis artist believes that art has really helped heal themselves.In 1946, he decided to go toSan Francisco to attend the courses of the artist Clyfford Still, before leaving for Paris in 1946.

This work is in various movements initiated and developed by American artists such as Pollock, de Kooning, Kline.

This artist mainly uses the technique of "dripping" in the composition of his works.
