Max Frintrop

Abstract painter and sculptor born in Oberhausen in 1982, he studied at the

Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts under the guidance of Albert Oehlen.

His work tends to reveal the structural relationships between colour and form.

Creating an illusion of depth, his heavy brushstrokes transform the flat surface

into a sculpted and unstable one.

He is interested in the combination of the emotive and gestural quality of

abstract expressionism. Influenced by hard lines, the rigid placement of paint

and the significant size of his work, while playing on the spontaneity of gestural

abstraction; Frintrop creates a perfectly balanced duality.

His artistic influence has long since crossed the borders of Germany, with a

multitude of international exhibitions. He now lives and works in Düsseldorf.
