Artwork's description
In this composition, Mangold uses acrylic and pencil to create tension between the strict geometric shapes and the lightness of the drawing. The oval curve, drawn with precision, seems to float between two blocks of color: a dark green on the left and an earthy orange on the right. The work conveys a sense of division and fragile balance. Although these geometric shapes are quite simple, Mangold imbues his work with depth by playing with the curve in relation to the plane.
Robert Mangold is known for his minimalist approach, which paradoxically can evoke feelings of fullness and contemplation. Even though his works do not tell stories in the traditional sense, they invite the viewer to interact with the visual space and meditate on the simplicity of the lines and forms. The choice of colors in this piece enhances the meditative aspect, as they are subtle and natural, contributing to a visual harmony between the geometric structure and the emotion it generates
