Since the opening of Calerie Alexis Lartigue in 2005, Jean Degottex has always occupied a prominent place in its programming This exhibition retraces the unprecedented and dazzling journey of one of the key figures of Post-War lyrical abstraction.
From October 16 to November 19, 2022, Jean Degottex, Signe, Écriture, Ligne will bring together a selection of iconic works by the artist, belonging to the Vagues, Écritures Suites, and Horsphères series among others it.
Exhibited since the end of the 1940s by Denise René, Aimé Maeght and André Breton, Jean Degottex has never stopped reinventing himself, moving from gesture to sign, from sign to writing, from writing to line. Both impulsive and measured, meditative and immediate, his work is inspired by Zen philosophy and oriental calligraphy.
